Cumbria Here I Come

By marpaul

Walked in some woods at Armathwaite, the other side of Carlisle, today.  First time I've been there so good to go somewhere different.  Quite muddy in the woods and plenty of bluebells and numerous other wild flowers around.  Came across this face carved into the sandstone cliff.  Had a look online when I got home to find out some more information and came across photos of more faces carved into the sandstone but in a completely different style to this one.  If I'd gone a little further I would have seen them.  A good excuse to return another day. Another in extras.   Afterwards went to a nursery a few miles away as they specialise in Geums, so of course had to buy some.
