Washburn Wanderings
It was a glorious day for a wander around Thruscross reservoir up in the Washburn valley. At last the weather has been something like it should be in May.
This deer seemed blissfully unaware of our presence, so I just managed to snap it before it disappeared.
I had difficulty choosing today's blip candidates, so the first extra is of a few shots taken on the walk. You can see the old flax mill from the village of West End that was submerged when the reservoir was created in the 60's. I blipped this a while ago here. I have blipped the derelict farmhouse with a tree growing out of it before too.
Todays second extra may interest those of you (in the UK) who saw the recent C4 series by Johnny Vegas called 'Carry on Glamping'. In this series he collected some unique vintage vehicles and had them restored and made into 'Glamping' homes. These are now situated in his 'Field of Dreams' on Breaks Fold Farm overlooking the reservoir.
We couldn't get any nearer than about 200 yards from the site, but viewers may recognise some of the vehicles. I notice from the website that the glamping accommodation is fully booked for 2021 which is hardly surprising following its TV coverage.
