Eda meets Henry Moore
At the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
Not the best start to the day but it was light rather than heavy rain so we felt we could cope with it and anyway we had already booked our tickets at the weekend.
We did have some dry spells and even a bit of sun later but we had a good time regardless. Some great Portuguese textile work indoors from Joana Vasconcelos. Plus some unusual things made from household items including old style telephones and pans and lids made into fantastical glass slippers! Unfortunately the colourful outdoor Portuguese sculptures, including the Cockerel, were being dismantled as they have been damaged through the winter.
We walked right through the park to the Weston to the Damien Hirst exhibits as one was a Unicorn which Eda saw on the entrance poster.
Just before we left we had a close look at the Henry Moore sculptures that are permanently on display here. Eda was originally wearing a dress but sat down in the mud playing hide and seek under the trees!
We really enjoyed our day and some of us even had ice cream!
I will add a Flickr link of the visit later when I have more time! - (posted on the 27 May blip.)
