60 million year-old landscape

Quite a busy day today, including a very enjoyable Zoom coffee with a couple of friends from Edinburgh days. (I find it hard to believe that it was over 30years ago that I lived and worked there!)
Although J was also busy, we made time for a walk as we hadn't been for one since Saturday. My photo shows part of the track that we walked along but what attracted me most to this view is the rocky crags on the hillside.
Each "step" is a layer of lava which poured out from fissures in the ancient landscape about 60 million years ago. Layer upon layer of basalt lava accumulated to a thickness exceeding 3000 feet, forming Mull's characteristic 'trap' scenery (from the Swedish word 'trappa' meaning steps) as can be seen here.
