One more river
This is the Moonie River at Thallon in southern Queensland, about 200 km west of where we stayed last night at Goondiwindi. It’s not easy tracing the course of the rivers here. The land is very flat, and rivers meander haphazardly, splitting and rejoining in a seemingly chaotic manner. Ultimately they all end up in the Darling River.
We decided to take the road through Thallon today because it offers more silo art - see Extra 1.
We’re spending tonight in the opal mining town of Lightning Ridge. Extra 2 shows a simple mining operation on the edge of town, with an almost full moon overhead.
