Veery interesting
It was a good bird day , starting off with 2 great crested flycatchers first thing this AM , the usual osprey hanging out near his ( can't see it ) nest, a heard but not seen pine warbler or 2 , and the red eyed vireo in extras. The last was almost the blip of the day but how often do I get this close to a veery? ( Only 1x before this.) The veery was shot at an ISO is 2000 , very dim in the forest and I had to lighten it up considerably even with that ISO , and because of the lighting at that spot everything looked a little greenish. The frustration of the day was hearing black and white warblers, black throated green and blue warblers and not seeing them. Also had a blueheaded vireo flyover warbling away.
This last bit all happened on the trail at Hayden Mtn., only a 4 mile round trip , but there is nothing like uphill on irregularly placed rocks to show you how out of shape you are. The views from the top were worth it. Also worth it for views closer to the ground- pink lady slipper orchids. I haven't seen on in probably 40 yrs. They used to be along the creek at my aunt and uncles farm , but one year they were gone and never seen again. Till today and there were quite a few, some also posted in extras.
