backlit lilacs

I've had two pleasant surprises in the last 24 hours. First was the great weather we had last evening so that I could seat my dinner guests outside on the clean porch for our appetizers and cocktails. Now I'm so glad that I took the time to spring clean the porch on Saturday, despite the rain showers afterwards. And the second surprise was finding this sprig of lilacs neatly cut and dropped on the ground by a hedgerow of lilacs. The owner probably cut an armful to make an arrangement and this little bunch wiggled free. It's one of hubby's favorite fragrances, so it is now sitting on his desk.
