Swans in the Meadow

A William day. I brought him home from Leicester and made him a sandwich. Despite the heavy rain showers, we decided to go to Stonebow to check on the swans.

Evidently the rain had put other people off, including the swanographer. The swans had moved with their brood to the meadow and were pecking at it presumably looking for insects and seeds. Still six cygnets guarded by Mum and Dad. They kept together as a group.

Dad was very attentive. He didn't like our attention, nor Basil, and hissed to  make his feelings known. We moved on quickly. On our return from the bridge we took an alternative route back over the meadow giving them a wide berth.

The meadow looked and smelt magnificent. Intensely Spring.

Please look at the extra which will probably become one of my favourite photos. Len and William on the boardwalk crossing the marsh.
