Canals and bikes..

Are everywhere in Amsterdam of course!
A very cheeky two day trip this weekend marking the end of a long haul this winter season for my husband at work.
His first complete year in a new role.. I must say though he has matured and settled in to it well- he's been a little fraught and has certainly grown more grey!!!!

We meandered (miles and miles) stumbled on many an antique store, after art gallery, after great eatery, after a decent beer, rugby (tut tut Scotland).
Unfortunately lower back pain on the only fair day didn't allow us to hire bikes this time but definitely next time. 3 hours to to door from our house to checking in to the hotel... Amazing really.
If you book well in advance it makes for a cheap ish trip.
(Avoid the young lads in the usual haunts) and Amsterdam is a vibrant city yet steeped in tradition and old fashioned values. Extraordinarily polite people the Dutch. The transport system through the city is quite astonishing and now I'm beginning to sound like my mother so ill leave it there!!
Fab time.
