Late afternoon light and a little snow
I have been rather busy to day, mostly making arrangements about meetings. I've also had to prepare a lot of pictures that I need to pass on for others to view, and am regretting my slow response earlier when I could and should have done all this organisation of my picture libraries.
I offered to drive Woodpeckers over to Nailsworth, after she had finished her job at 1-30pm, and I hoped it might offer some blip potential. It is only about five miles up the Nailsworth valley and the drive was rather beautiful, as snow had started falling just when I picked her up. There was a strong wind and the snow was driven in great swirls across flat surfaces and I tried to get a picture. But the fall of snow was very intermittent, and the sun shone between scudding clouds, so the whole scene changed every few minutes.
Helena offered to give us a treat with a coffee in her favourite cafe, TThe Olive Tree, which is only yards away from the health centre where she sometimes works in Nailsworth. I did some shopping whilst she did her business at the clinic, and she was already seated by the time I arrived. In that short time she had decided to upgrade to a special light lunch, rather than coffee and cakes, and I was persuaded to join her.
She has blipped a scene from the upstairs window of the old Cotswold stone building, probably a converted cottage. I had taken a shot I liked from our seat looking out towards the garden where a particularly heavy fall of snow had started, with very large flakes. I am going to put it on here on my Blipfolio as she has said would like to have that as a companion to her viewpoint.
When we got home, I was back to sorting out pictures whilst listening to music on the radio and replying to more calls and emails discussing arrangements. I looked out of my window occasionally while I worked, as the light from the gradually setting sun was becoming very beautiful. I couldn't resist taking this picture of the view from my desk across the Golden Valley of the scattered snow having settled once again. But what I liked most of all was the light shining on the clouds in the distance, the background of blue sky the valley in shadow and the trees and the bottom of the garden illuminated by a strong orange glow. Contrasts, yet again.
