Mini Treibball

Wow, the rain stopped, as planned, long enough to get the grass cut. Even the sun came out. A few weeks ago I'd read about a sport called Treibball where dogs herd a large ball into goals, and obviously herding dogs love it. The balls are similar to the excercise balls, maybe 60cm tall.

Arlo has always loved doing something similar with the a much smaller ball, and kind of pushes it around with his neck and shoulders while biting it (it's too big to get a grip). Now the grass was short we let him play with it outside and he spent 20 minutes running around with it before collapsing in a heap. Bingo, that's one bonus already! But I plan to get a bigger ball soon and hopefully train him to use his nose to push it, although that might be difficult for him to switch his style. One thing we could see clearly though is that he intentionally pushes it in specific directions, something it was difficult to see inside the house. Anyway, it was good to see how much he enjoyed it without getting it stuck under chairs!
