We visit nearby RSPB Leighton Moss in the morning, and and the National Nature Reserve at Gait Barrows in the afternoon, returning to base in between.

Booming bitters, squealing water rails, and clints and grikes on the limestone pavements all feature. The weather forecast says rain, but the sun shines.
