The cycle of life

What a lovely surprise awaited J and I this afternoon as we walked around the head of the loch. At first we just saw a few greylag geese heading towards the water, then we spotted some small movements around their legs. The binoculars revealed that these were some goslings which had hatched recently. We watched as they took to the water and swam across the shallow water to a nearby island. We counted eight adults accompanying fifteen goslings. The extra shows the majority of the flotilla.
