Going Cuckoo

I wasn't going to believe this holiday was happening until we were actually on the ferry. Postponed from last year for obvious reasons; only just opening up in time by a few weeks for it to happen this year; the ferry company down by one ship, so having to rejig the timetables; our original Saturday morning 9am start from the house to arrive in our cottage on North Uist by 8.30pm replaced by leaving the house at 9pm on Friday to arrive at the northern tip of Skye at 3.30am for a 5.15am sailing (we factored in time to take it easy given the number of deer lining the route)... And so we're 'here' (the here is in the extras).

We managed a brief snooze each, because the cottage we're in was only partially booked for the week before, so the owners kindly let us crash early. Being about 7.30am, instead of 4pm.

But we're here for the walking and the wildlife, so with the sun a-shining, there was no excuse. And how I've missed the Cuckoos....

We know Lewis and Harris well (our second week is on the latter), so exploring the Uists, where we've only spent one rain and wind-lashed day, is going to be interesting.
