the thought of you and I
Day one of my photo journal.
Today saw me padding barefoot around the garden, camera in-hand looking for photos.
I can honestly say I have never taken a photo in my back garden before...Up until today I was a 'travel photographer'....always looking for the exotic, the extraordinary. Taking hundreds of photos in countries other than my own of sights that struck me as something special.
I'm back home now and extraordinary it is not....but - not wanting my camera to be condemned to life in a camera bag at the bottom of a wardrobe - I'm rising to the challenge of taking and uploading one photo a day.
I think today's photo is particularly apt.
It's of a statue in the back garden of my family home. It's been there for years but I feel like I've never really noticed it before....strange how we become blind to the everyday, the ordinary. I love how photography makes you stop and see. I was intrigued by the expression on the statue's face; melancholy? regret? hurt? longing?....I'm not entirely sure, it's enigmatic and maybe even a little extraordinary.
