Parting is such "sweet" sorrow

The weather has once again been horrible so my Blip is from Wednesday this week.

This was one of the saddest moments from our move. As we are in Shakespeare Country then the title is stolen from Romeo and Juliet but there was nothing sweet about the parting.

These are the final remains of the first item of furniture my wife and I purchased when we got married. Unfortunately, whilst externally it was in good condition, the internals were in poor shape. Over 40 years ago fire safety regs were different. Now we could not even give the sofa away.

I was unable to dismantle the sofa before my wife got back. So it was time to remember our children and grandchildren growing up with the sofa often as a back drop in a photograph.

The sofa was so well made it took ages to break up. Eventually I discovered the frame had been built by Barry in June 1975. I have kept the piece of wood with his name on as a memento.Barry you built it like a tank.

So good bye sofa. Lets hope we get better weather soon and I can get out and about and take some new images.

Have a good weekend.
