St Bernard

St Bernard is the Patron Saint of The Alps and mountaineers so why we have St Bernard's well alongside the Water of Leith is anyone's guess.

It's got a very nice statue on it though which I had forgotten about but today I needed to get out of the office and blow the cobwebs away and within ten minutes I'd walked from the centre of Edinburgh down to Stockbridge and was wandering along the riverbank - just me and a Heron. The close proximity of such quiet corners is one of the things that makes this such a great city to live and work in.

I was so happy to see this statue again that I've posted it despite seeing a great sticker on a lamp post. I knew I wasn't feeling like myself!
