Bamburgh Castle

Thursday 20th May 2021

We were out in reasonable time this morning to catch the good weather, which was only going to last a few hours. We parked at Bamburgh and walked over the dunes to the beach. What had been a beautiful blue sky from the other side was already turning grey, we could see the storm coming.

We took a few photos and played chicken with the waves, then spotted what we thought was an easier route off the beach. It proved to be a little tricky! We managed after a further detour and made it back to the car for coffee. Our plan was then to go to Seahouses and explore the harbour and then have fish and chips outside watching the sea. The weather put paid to that idea. We stopped, had a little look at the shops, got the fish and chips and took them back to the house to eat indoors. By the time we got home the rain had started.

Early afternoon it seemed to brighten for a bit so we went for a country drive, taking in Old Bewick Church and Chillingham Church.

The extra treats from today:

20) Walking over the sand dunes
21) Playing chicken with the waves
22) Fish and chip take away
23) Seeing the rolling fields of green and gold
24) Seeing bluebell woods
25) Enjoying the golden gorse headrows

Anyone know what the bird in the extras is please? It has been identified as a Linnet.
