Lathyrus Odoratus

Mother Shipton

A cold dull wet day, such a contrast to yesterday, no butterflies to be seen. However, I did find this Mother Shipton moth in the briefest of sunny spells. The markings on the forewings are said to resemble a witch's face with a hooked nose. Hopefully you can see it, this one appears to have a bow-tie underneath the nose. The moth is named after the 16th century prophetess who lived near Knaresborough.
