Down by the river

This is a former cotton mill beside the river Cart in Paisley. For years it and several others in the town lay derelict and several of them had to be pulled down when they became unsafe. Fortunately this one was converted into flats and neighbouring ones into offices and a new supermarket was built. The result is a lively and busy area with a new life.

The Cart is the White Cart which used to be a terrible misnomer since it carried the effluent from this and a dozen other factories along its banks. Ducks, swans and even the occasional Cormorant feed of the much cleaner river.
