“Buttonwood”

Local historians named this ancient Sycamore. It was approximately 200 years old when it was felled about 3 years ago. It was feared a high wind could topple it, damaging nearby properties. People mourned its loss. But one Gent felt the tree should be commemorated so ....
He created this amazing bench. Kids have learned how much fun it is to climb on. Those a bit older can sit-a-spell and enjoy the Peace Garden around it.
Ponder for a moment, a tree that is still purposeful after more than 200 years of life.

( Aug 1, 2018 - I blipped the hollowed base of this Sycamore in its original yard. Unbeknownst to me until today - I was capturing the infamous “Buttonwood”. )
