From where I'm sitting

Science is real

What a lovely day with my little family. Little G had been thoroughly brainwashed briefed about the importance of Mother's (Mothers'?) Day at pre-school, so he wished me a happy day approximately once every half an hour or so, and very excitedly presented me with his handmade card, mini potted primrose, and "surprise" package with 2 chocolates in (he'd been telling me this was what he was going to do since about Tuesday... we're still working on the concept of "surprises"!)

We had a quiet morning at home, then took a trip over to Tring to the Natural History Museum outpost in the afternoon - this has to be one of the most bizarre places in the world. Room after room of glass display cabinets full of stuffed animals, birds, fish etc. I would have loved to post a photo of the little Gs face to face with the gnu (the undisputed favourite) but photos with glass display cases aren't the easiest to pull off.

Instead, here's a picture of what Mr G and Little G got up to when we got back (while I watched the rest of the rugby) - a first outing for his new book of science experiments. Apart from seeming rather concerned about the mess (poor child, what have I done to him, and how can he be concerned in such a generally messy kitchen?!) I think he enjoyed it. His little sister - as you can see - was certainly impressed. (In case you're wondering, the title for the blip is taken from one of our current favourite They Might Be Giants' tracks - practising a little indoctrination of our own!)

Only two hours on excel today. The end is nigh!
