Rather grey and dull stitched panorama view from the Kessock Bridge this morning, with Inverness, the Beauly Firth, and North Kessock.
Something that used to be a regular occurrence, but I haven't seen for several years, some poor sole in a yacht heading out of the marina, and towards the sea lock at the North end of the Caledonian Canal, made the mistake of cutting the corner, and would have rapidly run aground once out of the deeper channel created by the mouth of the River Ness. One of the reasons there should have been less such misfortune, is that there's been a North "cardinal buoy" placed to indicate that you need to pass to the North of it... to avoid the hazard. Someone didn't heed their chart, or check with the locals...
Fortunately there was a fairly big tide later on in the day, and that seemed to have lifted them off the bank they'd hit. Hope no harm came to them or their boat.
