Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

The Edge of he Day

As we drove south across the freeway bridge, I thought I might, just maybe, get a shot of the beauty happening in the sky. Then as we approached, I realized I would be shooting through the chain-link fence. I gave it a try anyway--held the camera out the window facing west and now you're seeing what I saw.

Two-hours previous to this moment we had sent a text to Bob & Lynda and to Cyndi asking if they could all be spontaneous and meet us for dinner. We had not seen them for several weeks because all of our schedules had not aligned. We waited for a return text. First Lynda replied that she and Bob could make it if this could be a short evening because she was working on a weekend project and could not be out all evening (she is a retired accountant now doing special side-jobs during tax-season). That was good enough for us. We then started bantering about where to eat and Cyndi had still not replied. Lynda suggested something close to their home. We were fine with that. We all agreed that 6:00 p.m. would be a good time.

Then Cyndi's text chimed-in with a "count me in; I'll be there."

We were thrilled. The five of us had not had dinner together since the Christmas season when Cyndi had invited us all for dinner to her place. It was a fun dinner at a Mexican restaurant new to us. We all agreed that doing a "spontaneous" dinner was something we ought to do more often.

The BIG BONUS of this day has been RAIN! At 3:30 last night I woke to the sound of pouring rain. The rain was consistent for at least an hour. When we woke later to start our day, it looked as though the rain was gone for the day, but not so. A while later I could see rain falling across town and decided we need to get the pups outside for a quick walk around the yard. It was a good thing we did because moments later the sky opened to let more rain fall. We were thrilled. We need rain. So today a mighty small bit of our drought was diminished.

So that's Friday's report from Funville.
Good night from Southern California.
