Scratched sign

We rarely see a dog on a leash when we walk here. Maybe the owners are illiterate. There are signs everywhere. Of course some people think that restrictions don't apply to them and allow their dogs to run loose. We saw a couple with five dogs, all well behaved and close to the owners, but still....
We have a neighbour who walks her dog on the road, unleashed. I've had to yell at the dog more than once to get out of our place. The owner has made snide remarks when she hears me but I don't engage with her - except for once then I cursed myself for stooping to her level. She also ignores the covenants in our neighbourhood and has created chaos in the past. One of those entitled ones who does whatever she wants whenever she wants, and to hell with the rest of us. Let's just say she has no friends in the neighbourhood.
G and I had a really nice walk down Xwaaqwum on another beautiful spring day.  Earlier, I watered the garden and transplanted a living basil plant that I bought last Friday because I needed some for yesterday's pizza. I've had good luck with this variety before so I'm hoping it does well.
Extras:
Figs are appearing on our two trees! We have to figure out a way to keep the birds off them this year. Last year for the first time the birds ate most of them!
I sheltered the transplanted basil with a pillowcase, one that I'd used yesterday on the transplanted tomatoes. I have to laugh when I look at this latest idea of mine - and I need to record it so I remember next year!
The first two tiny tomatoes have appeared on the Tumbler Tom starter that I bought. I hope my own seedlings thrive and produce tomatoes all summer.
