‘An Improbable Tenement’
Came across this rather improbable tenement in Canonmills today.
It’s to be found on a short and undistinguished cul de sac on the south side of Eyre Place, surrounded by a mixture of derelict land and modern redevelopments; but apparently spared so far!
Built in 1904, it sports a lion rampant (see extra photo) between two diamond panels picked out with little coloured rocks, and windows surrounded by crushed stones.
Just an ordinary tenement, but one that’s a bit different!
I wonder what the story behind it is?
