Cygnets

Today's walk: Lodge Lake, Milton Keynes.

This "peaceful scene" was in fact the prelude to a mighty battle between the cob of this family and a pair of Canada  geese taking their goslings for a walk. It got quite nasty, with one gosling separated from the others and threatened by the cob. One young (human) bystander was thinking of trying the scare off the cob, but she was advised that it was really not a good idea. It all ended harmlessly enough, but was scary. Needless to say, I completely failed to get a good war photo.

The extra, of a happy heron, is interesting inasmuch as the bird is standing on the deserted grebe's nest featured some weeks ago.
