What The Dickens!

Today's image was taken on a 'micro trip' to Rochester. This mural of Charles Dickens is on the side wall of a shop at the end of the high street (no idea what the bunting is for!).
Dickens himself spent his childhood in Rochester and Chatham and they had a great influence on his future life and career with many of his characters and stories being set in the Medway area.
Me and my brother had intended to take an early morning trip to Rochester before the shops opened and catch some atmospheric early morning shots. Needless to say that did not happen - we did manage an early morning run but only eventually left the house for our trip after 10 am.
The weather forecast had looked promising yesterday but we were halfway through our town centre walk when the heavens opened and we had to shelter in someone's covered driveway for a few minutes until the downpour abated slightly - even then we both managed to get very damp but only on one side each as we were sharing an umbrella. The weather almost felt Dickensian!
