Lichen and sunshine

Tuesday
Day 1 of our continuation of the Fife coastal walk. We checked in to our accommodation in Kingsbarns mid-morning and then caught the bus to Crail at midday to start from where we'd left off two years ago. We were prepared for cold and rainy weather, but the sun came out and it was a lovely afternoon. A great view of the Isle of May (extras) as well as the Bass rock and Berwick law.
We had to walk through a caravan site near the start of this section, but then we reached the Kilminning coast nature reserve which was lovely and we were lucky enough to spot a yellowhammer.
The path continued around Fife Ness and we passed a lighthouse, an old war emplacement, the remans of historic buildings at Fife ness harbour and Constantine's cave. We also skirted several golf courses on this route. There were a couple of sections where we had to scramble over rocks as the tide hadn't gone out quite far enough (extras).
At Kingsbarns beach we turned inland and had a further half mile of so to walk back to the Inn. In total the walk from Crail took us 3 hours (22,000 steps). Needless to say our legs were suffering at the end of it!
Dennis enjoyed a pint in the sunny beer garden while I put my feet up in the room and enjoyed a cuppa.
