Bedraggled/Bejeweled

Gosh the rain/hail did come down this afternoon. An amazing downpour that caused flash floods throughout the village. Our access to church under the lych gate was flooded again. Needless to say, our thoughts were immediately about the boiler room. When I went down to church for evening prayer I went down into the basement and was relieved to find it was dry.

However, we then discovered that the hall office was far from dry! The gutters couldn't cope and water had poured in through the ceiling, through every light socket. The carpet was soaked and there was even a large puddle on it. All the furniture and most of the equipment was soaked and, of course, anything on the desks. I don't think our insurance company is going to like us! We spent an hour clearing up.
