A GRAND DAY OUT
The sun was shining this morning, my arm was hurting a bit but, so far, that is all so no problem.
We decided to have a very rare day out all three of us here. It's a miracle to get Hubby to agree to come out and away from his garden, allotment or shed, so I made the most of it. So I phoned Abbey House Hotel to see if there was an available slot for lunch in their outdoor conservatory space for 1.00 pm - and yeah there was!!
We went for a drive along the Coast Road between Ulverston and Barrow, with a brief stop at Bardsea for a stroll. It had started to cloud over by then (typical!!). After that we just drove along the rest of the coast road, through Roose and on up to The Abbey House Hotel.
We went for a walk around their woods, this is hubby zooming ahead of us of course. Here he is carrying my camera bag for me. He's not a saunterer, he likes to walk with a purpose and go well ahead whereas I stop a lot to take photos, probably why I can't get him to come out with as often as would like.
We then checked in for our appointed time for lunch. They were full and had been intending to put us under a parasol, but as there was a chance of rain they offered us a space in their canopied area. Which was fine with us, It meant we could which table we wanted, was much closer to the door into the hotel to use the facilities and was much quieter. In fact only us and two ladies there. It did mean we got a little forgotten and the service wasn't as great as it was last week, but still OK and a young man who was only in his 2nd week there looked after us very well and went and fetched the head waiter to take our order.
The food was excellent, we decided to have a proper meal as Hubby is going for an outdoors drink with his mates tonight (under a canopy) so it would save having to rush through cooking something to get Hubby out for 6.00 pm!!!
Then came home and it has now started to rain, so we got away with it - yeah!!!!
It was the first time for over a year that all three of us have actually been out for a meal of any kind anywhere. It felt good and having that huge space almost to ourselves was a good starting point for getting used to going out (occasionally) again.
That's all for today - do take care and stay safe and see you all tomorrow.
