But it's a Northern Parula! I've never seen one before , and would not have expected it. It was in the bushes on the side of the road I walk on. This has a lot of small trees edging larger trees on what probably used to be farm and is now owned by a guy who is a builder. He owns the whole length of the road up to the first crossroad and has put in a house here and one there. But much of it is still trees and a great place to spot warblers and towhees and all the usual stuff. There were prairie warblers here last week and yellow all over the place because they like small trees and tall shrubs. I was hoping to find the blue wing warbler had come back but - Wow. This was as good as if I had finally seen the black throated green I keep hearing!
The extra is a nuthatch coming out if what appears to be its nest in a large ash tree. We watched mom and Dad going in and out with bugs so I think we have babies already . Will need to keep an eye on that>
