Birthday Boy
Birthday Boy
86 today.
A day, I hope, when once a year Blippers are allowed a little self indulgence.
Many followers may recall that in Arnside for the past ten years or so I have got up early on my birthday and climbed Arnside Knott before breakfast. It is a kind of little ritual to convince myself that I am still a few yards ahead of Father Time.
But this year we are on the Isle of Arran.
So Mrs. K. took it upon herself to find a suitable substitute hill in the southern part of Arran. It had to be challenging but at the same time doable.
She succeeded well. Off we went to climb the Clauchland Hills, a Forestry Commission area near Lamlash. And we did it the right way, going up via the narrow mountain footpath and coming down on the much longer Forestry Commission graded forest road. And the forecast showers never arrived.
The main shot shows yours truly arriving at the summit cairn.

The first extra is the view looking north over Brodick bay with the car ferry just arriving. Unfortunately the most impressive hills are in cloud.
The second looks south to Holy Island and an impressive cloud bank.
And the third shows that the Forestry Commission has thoughtfull provided a bench near the summit.
I am having a lovely day and cake and wine are still to come.
