Rhododendron Collage
I had been planning to go to Balbirnie Park for a while. Principally to see the rhododendrons, but also for a lovely walk. So this morning Geordie and I set off in dry weather. It`s only a 45 mins drive but when we got there the rain was lashing down. We sat in the car for a while, until it was less heavy then set off around the park. It was originally the estate grounds around Balbirnie House, now a hotel, and has an outstanding collection of rhododendrons. Many grown from seed obtained during plant-collecting expeditions.
It may have been raining but we still had a great walk. The birds were in full voice, surprisingly there were very few puddles, the trees were lovely, and many of the rhododendron trees/bushes were in full bloom. So, lots of shades of pink.
When we came around by the golf club to the hilly area in front of the house I was pleased to see there were lots of bluebells. So more photos had to be taken. Even one of Geordie "tiptoeing through the bluebells". Extra.
We travelled home in a stinky (wet dog), steamy (my wet clothes), car.
