Bike in the snow

The top of the Col de La Croix still has plenty of snow (see extra too) as you can see by this bike. But the views were lovely...that’s the Dent du Midi in the background.

We had a bit of a wild goose (black grouse) chase today. We left early this morning on our bikes to cycle to Bretaye then walk to Roc D’Orsay to look for Black Grouse but 3/4 of the way up the road was blocked as it is being repaired. We turned back then cycled up the road to the top of the Col de La Croix instead. It opens to traffic on Wednesday so it was great to have it to ourselves today. On arriving at the top we couldn’t believe it when we heard the call of a Black Grouse but we didn’t get to see it. It was too well hidden!
