The river Parrett

So we continued with our Somerset holiday today. D arrived last night to join us. This morning we had a walk by the river Parrett which was very nice. In the Somerset Levels there are lots of drainage channels called Rhynes. It was drained by various people throughout the centuries including the monks of Glastonbury. This afternoon we went up Burrow Mump to an old church on top. There were amazing views from the top.

Later we tried to find a holy well. B and I thought it would be good to find St Barbara’s well and so went to cucklington. We had a good look around for it and I even looked in a shed for it as it said it was inside a building, embarrassing!!! There was just an old wheelbarrow in there!!! Oh well, maybe try another time.
