1940’s Sweet Memories

It’s rained steadily all day (0.75 inches) and I’m still not feeling great, so you’ve another jigsaw. This a part of a series of 4 by decade by Gibsons, taken from the Robert Opie Collection in the Museum of Brands. I loved Aztec bars from the 1960s version and the Ice Breaker bar from the 1970s version, both unfortunately no longer with us. It says that sweets were rationed from June 1942 and the lack of full cream milk led to the use of separated milk and was termed blended chocolate. Thin glacine paper was used and economies made in ink - note the Milk Tray in white with purple writing rather than the other way round. I found it interesting to see KitKat in red referred to as Chocolate Crisp, next to a blue version which is apologising for being in plain chocolate. I rather liked the sound of a Milk Tray block. 

Btw I took another lateral flow test today (negative), and was wondering how many of you are doing the tests as advised by the Govt?
