Cuckoo

We were sitting on a bench facing the North Sea at Gibraltar Point. A cuckoo was calling close by. So close, that we actually saw it tumble off the top of a small tree within 15 m of the path. It was a surprisingly big bird. I wonder how many eggs it has laid in small birds' nests.
