Dapdune Wharf
A National Trust property in the middle of busy Guildford with its own parking. Brilliant. Today, we browsed the book shop, and had a coffee while sitting by the River Wey. There is a lovely canal path alongside the river going all the way to London. We may take a walk along it tomorrow. Always weather dependent.
“This is a place where past meets present, rural tranquillity meets urban heritage and people meet nature. Here history is brought to life, wildlife is truly wild and you can often expect the unexpected.
Set in four acres of grounds in the heart of Guildford, Dapdune Wharf is the historic home of the Wey barges that worked the waterways from Guildford to the Port of London in the first half of the nineteenth century.”
We’re staying for the weekend in our friends’ lodge in Farley Green. We had lunch with other friends under their gazebo in their front garden. My extra. The back is too steep to pitch one. Great way to start our mini break. Lots to be grateful for!
