Street Music

One of the most haunting sounds in this noisy city is that of the Chapei players.Usually blind and usually accompanied by a small child these musicians play their traditionalstringed instruments around the streets in the evenings. The most famous of them is Kong Nay.He miraculously survived the Khmer Rouge regime and continues to play and teach the Chapei today. He has called the Cambodian Ray Charles and has played in music festivals across the world including New York.
