Guzzling Goldfinch
I was fascinated watching this lovely Goldfinch enjoying his breakfast of dandelion seeds this morning. In fact there is a lot of bird activity in the garden just now. A Bluetit with a mouthful of food is regularly popping into a bird box on the side of the house; several blackbirds dig craters in our woodchip path every morning in their hunt for worms; one Blackbird also serenades us from a nearby tree every evening; a Blackcap and a Willow warbler call and sing in secret amongst the trees on the other side of the stream while Robins, Siskin, Great tits and Chaffinches flit around the garden, stopping off at the bird feeders for a snack from time to time. Our garden is a very busy place indeed!
