Two for one
A drizzly morning walk was the best choice as too wet in the afternoon.
I missed a good photo (my camera was in my pack) when a stag Roe Deer appeared in my right peripheral vision. I would have had a chance but two dogs off leads following behind me set it flying anyway for cover. I just watched it go.
I walked to an area where I hoped to see some summer visitors but the blustery weather was making them hide ( if they were there). The Swallows and Martins were also missing obviously looking for a sheltered spot or perhaps sitting in a barn at the farm.
The surprise bird was a single Redwing, a Winter Thrush still here in May yes I did look again and again but it was close and unmistakable. I reported that one to Derbyshire Ornithological Society.
The camera came out of the pack for this gift of a photo. the Heron and Dipper were a long way apart at the start of the walk but together on my way home.
The heavy rain was a test for my work with sealant on our flat roof. Looks like it was worth the effort.
We haven’t watched much snooker this year but did watch a little during the week and a lot of the final this evening. Quite relaxing with many memories of years gone by going through my mind.
