Life in a Northern Town

By kagsy

Bank Holiday Monday

We dropped Sarah at work then set off for a walk before the grim weather that’s forecast for later. In the photo you can see the damage from the moorland fire last week - hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of damage to wildlife habitat and vital peat moorland. The fire was caused by fireworks - it’s hard to understand the mentality of someone who would think it’s a good idea to set off fireworks on tinder-dry moorland - especially as there are warning signs everywhere (see extras) after the terrible fire two years ago.

See another extra for a smiling dog. She wasn’t smiling on the way back up the hill.

We called at the little trailer near Wessenden Head for 2 coffees and 2 enormous pieces of flapjack - all for £4. We did a double take and checked that was correct - what a bargain. It was lovely coffee too!

Now back at home reading some very funny Tweets about Line of Duty - you certainly can’t please everyone!
