The Obelisk
“The artist and the photographer seek the mysteries and the adventure of experience in nature.”
Ansel Adams
A return to Eastnor for a walk to Midsummer Hill and the obelisk, this time with K1. We decided to give British Camp a miss so soon after restrictions were lifted, assuming it would probably still be a more popular option, and to be honest I prefer the more varied landscape from Midsummer Hill, which has its own Iron Age hill fort anyway. I wasn't disappointed, the skies added a bit of drama with the looming shower clouds building, a few spots of rain as we topped the hill. There were enough other walkers visiting to keep us company without it feeling crowded, and we had a laugh with a couple who were giving owl impersonations to entertain us. I'd planned on calling in to one of the local pubs, gardens - now open - but they were all too busy and it was more than a bit chilly with threatening clouds building so we headed home for some of my home made leek and potato soup instead, followed by an absorbing evening of snooker.
