Recipes of 1909
Most times when I look after my mother for a day, I take one or two of the countless books, pictures, or family heirlooms back home with me. That's okay with my mother, we talk about the things I take, but mostly she has forgotten where they originally came from or that we have them at all.
This is a page from a handwritten recipe book from my paternal great-grandmother Bertha, written in 1909. I can just about read her handwriting, but the recipes are odd - things like stuffed goose neck, or spleen, which I am more than unlikely to cook, ever.
The blip is from the pudding and cake section in the book, which is huge. I think, Bertha just loved baking and making desserts.
