Sheffield University
I was able to join my Mrs M and son, for the nearest (& last) university visit before he decides on where to spend the next 5 years. With Covid restrictions this entails a look at the key university building & accommodation areas and to get a flavour of the city & vibe. As from the start, it's a close call between Sheffield and Newcastle - both really good options.

The main pic displays the student energy & conviction in the protest banner about the rent scandal. In short, students were led to beleive that they could start (or return to) f2f teaching last September, and paying up front for a years accommodation, to find shortly afterwards that all or most the teaching was online, and even found themselves "imprisoned" within their accommodation blocks to control Covid!

The Student Union building is shown in the two extras, with the older red brick original University building (I guess) in the background of one.

Rugby
Approx 8 school mates from a 20 mile radius, watched my son play against our local rivals (and usual winners) Newark on Friday night. Regaining his confidence from stepping up to the colts last year (17 & 18 year olds)  he played very well, scored his second try in 2 matches and had spells as a Winger, Centre & Scum-half (3 quite different skill-sets). 

Wellness
I'd done too much for two days in a row it transpired, so had to miss out on watching him and having some catch up beers with fellow parents. As and added bonus my neck became more spasmodic than usual!  I just about managed to do the over 3 hours (in total) trip to Sheffield trip today - & nothing much else.
