Just a little bit more to do.

This is why protection is needed - she loves looking out and even though she can now be near the edge she still likes to use the plant pot to get a better view.  A gate needs to be made so that should I need to I can access the fire escape.  After the scare we had with a chimney fire a short while ago this is an essential requirement.  At the exact time of the fire it did not occur to me that there was a build up of very dry leaves and debris washed down the roof gullies trapped under the decking.  Sparks and glowing embers rained down on the deck from the fire and it is a miracle that this did not ignite.  The previous contractors who last replaced the deck were asked to provide an access point so that I could clear the build up but it was not done.  When the old deck was demolished  it was a shock to see how much dry debris was there.  A lucky escape ....or a lost opportunity for an insurance claim  and a new deck!  Wouldn't have wanted to risk it.
