Everyday I Write The Book

From my lunchtime walk into town. There is nothing like it, a big bag full, fresh from the greengrocers.

Dreadfully dull day in the office. I was glad to get out, particularly as the weather exceeded all forecasts and stayed bright.

We gardened for an hour tonight which was also lovely.

Am enjoying reading Michael Ignatieff’s biography of Isiah Berlin. Talk about 20th century European history in one person’s life. He saw the Russian revolution as a boy and ended up in exile in Surbiton of all places. Then Oxford, World War Two ... apparently he was a compulsive talker who rattled ideas out like an intellectual machine gun. Fascinating stuff.

Work less, read, walk and garden more. That’s the secret ...
