Cherry blossoms
Not only has April been the frostiest month but it is also the driest April on record. We went from muddy and boggy woodlands to dry, cracked pathways in a seemingly very short time. But no fear, it is a bank holiday weekend and bank holiday Monday always means rain....
At least the lack of rain has ensured that the blossom are not all washed off the trees. Today was perfectly calm without wind, a good day to get blossom photos but the morning sunlight disappeared very quickly. The cherry tree blossoms in our neighbourhood are at their peak at the moment, so it was a good opportunity to take some photos of them on my way to the supermarket today.
I did a few chores in the village, including getting my reading glasses adjusted as they literally fall off my face when I wear them - it will be a pleasure to have glasses that stay on my face!
It feels quite strange to have some social dates in the diary again - we have a busy bank holiday weekend with walks and lunches out, including seeing the boys on Sunday when they are playing golf with their dad (not Tommy who is at uni). Unfortunately the weather does not look great, it is several degrees cooler than this time last year and rain is forecast for Monday.
