Steak and Kidney Pie - a tribute
This steak and kidney pie, well tucked into, is my mother's recipe supposedly based on that of Rules Restaurant of London. Rules claim to be the oldest restaurant in London. I once had the opportunity to eat there and chose the pie but it was not a patch on this beauty, with its dome of light pastry.
You can see my mother's 1950s Denby Stoneware pie chimney, allowing steam to escape. Alongside is her equally old Ecko Dough Blender, no fancy pants electric mixer used here.
My wife said, "with a legacy like this, you don't need a gravestone to commemorate her"
